Trolley-bus

The history of electric trolley-buses in Donetsk goes back to 1939. Together with trams they were the most common travel vehicles for Donetsk citizens until marshrutkas took their share of the cake. Today Donetsk operates 19 trolley-bus routes of about 200 km. All trolley-buses have conductors on board. You pay them the fare and get a ticket. You should keep the ticket until the end of the trip as they are checked randomly by enforcement officers (kontrolyor). A monthly travel card is a good bargain if you intend to stay in Donetsk for a month and ride these power-driven vehicles.
