Visas

Ukraine has been pursuing an open-doors or easy-to-get policy for many countries. Visas are not longer required for the nationals of the EU, Mongolia, Switzerland, Japan, Canada and United States and the former USSR nations travelling to Ukraine for tourism, private purpose or business for less than 90 days. All citizens of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) member states are allowed to enter Ukraine as visitors without a visa for a maximum duration of 180 days per year.
The required travel document in this case is a passport valid for six months beyond the planned date of travel.
If you don’t meet the above requirements, you need a Ukrainian visa. Visas are not issued at the point of entry and must be obtained in advance in the nearest consulate of Ukraine.
There are four kinds of visas: transit, private, tourist and business. Traditional application package includes an invitation, a valid passport, a photo (35 x 45 mm size), an application form and the fee. However, consulates in different countries might demand additional documents (e.g. a visa support letter or a copy of travel insurance policy). Please contact your nearest consulate of Ukraine for details. For the list of consulates and embassies, visit -

To extend your stay in Ukraine beyond the initially applied term, you must contact to the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Citizenship, Immigration and Registration (known as OVIR). Extensions are not automatic and are valid only for continued presence in the country.
