Important holidays
|
|
Ukraine celebrates a number of various feasts. Most of them are traditional religious (Christmas, Easter) or secular days marked in the country as days-off for centuries. Others have the European origin and are quite young. You probably won’t be surprised to see a pumpkin party thrown by a posh bar on 31 October. If any official holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday in Ukraine, the following Monday is made an official public holiday too. Also, if a holiday is celebrated on Tuesday (Thursday), the workday on preceding Monday (following Friday) may be transferred to the next Saturday. This is done to extend weekends and help people recover after big parties.
