Email, internet and wi-fi
Emails are obviously the handiest way to stay in touch. Many hotels offer internet access in rooms. But you should check in advance if staying at a 3-star or lower quality hotel.
Internet cafes are numerous but mostly used by teenagers for games. Still, sending an email and checking boxes has never been a problem. Please note that the personnel is unlikely to speak any foreign language. So, if you need something more than a bare email access, engaging a Russian-speaking friend for assistance would be a right thing to do.
The number of wi-fi zones is rapidly growing too. The majority of public places, cafes, restaurants and hotels provide the service as a part of their hospitality and won’t charge you. Others might require a refund or a card.
